The only Level IV and certified Always Ready for Kids (ARK) trauma center in the region, Pleasant Valley Hospital has specially trained physicians and nurses who evaluate, stabilize and diagnose trauma patients. All emergency physicians and nurses have been trained and certified in trauma care and are able to provide advanced trauma life support when patients must be transferred to a higher-level trauma center. When a patient requires transport to the Burn Intensive Care Unit at Cabell Huntington Hospital, the only burn unit in the state of West Virginia, Pleasant Valley Hospital’s partnership with Cabell Huntington Hospital ensures a swift and seamless transition.
With a surgeon and anesthesiologist on call 24 hours a day, a skilled team of hospitalists, and other highly trained specialists, a team approach to care begins as soon as patients arrive at the PVH Emergency and Trauma Center.
